Thought I'd put up a quick post on a recent weekend in Al Ain - the Green Emirate.

One of the seven Emirates of the UAE, Al Ain isn't the largest or most energetic, but is a good reason enough to get out of the city. Famous for having one of the highest mountain peaks in the country, Jebel Hafeet, the desert town is just a short 1.5 hour drive from Dubai, and is definitely worth the trip. We made our way up the peak at just before sunset and it was stunning. You could see far and wide, looking across a sea of golden sand as the sun began to disappear behind the horizon. (Although it has to be said, the Mercure hotel at the top is like something out of a tacky 80's film, which is such a shame because it could be a stunning resort...!!)

Here are a few shots taken. I loved the silhouette of the desert trees against the colourful sunset...

Off to New York City for the first time this week - cannot wait! Watch this space for some awesome shots of the Big Apple...

Enjoy!
